Planned Parenthood of
Central New Jersey joined with the Planned Parenthood Association of
the Mercer Area in a partnership to participate in Planned Parenthood’s
Global Partners in Local Communities program. The two affiliates
have partnered with Planned Parenthood of South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal office in Durban, South Africa (PPASA KZN).
During the course of the
partnership, the three agencies exchanged best practices, expertise
and ideas on a wide variety of topics, including agency governance,
health services, community education and fundraising. The
highlight of this partnership was two exchange visits – a PPAMA and PPCNJ delegation
visited
South Africa and a delegation from KwaZulu-Natal
visited central New Jersey in 2005.
About the Partners
PPCNJ and PPAMA are the
leading providers of reproductive health care in Mercer, Middlesex and
Monmouth Counties. Together we serve more than 44,000 women, teens, families and
professionals each year with reproductive health care and education
programs. We are also leading advocates in New Jersey for access to
these services.
PPASA KZN is one of
Planned Parenthood Association of South Africa’s largest provincial
offices. It supports a wide range of projects in a variety of urban,
rural and deep rural communities with limited resources. Their primary
focus has been on HIV/AIDS prevention, adolescent sexual reproductive
health and voluntary counseling and testing.
